Your Questions Answered..............

Which ParcelPod?

The current range of ParcelPods have been developed to cater for most mail & parcel deliveries, with varying degrees of security, conveneince & capacity.

The checklist below should help you decide which is best... and remember if you are still unsure, give us a call or email & we will help.

If you ulitmately require high security with good capacity above all else, then the original ParcelPod is your choice, this has our unique patent pending lockbar system which is extremly secure & there are no other apertures available for forced entry.

If you require more convenience, but still require a good capacity for receiving either very large volumes of mail or typical parcels from on-line or catalogue shopping, then the front opening 'Deluxe' ParcelPod should be chosen, this still has the patent pending lockbar as above but it is used in a static/passive mode to provide protection against forced entry via the lid, the front opening door adds great convienence for all & its three waty acting rod lock 'Beefs' up the security.

If you do not have a requirement for a large volume of mail or parcels but you still wish to accept deliveries of DVDs & books etc then the ParcelPod 'Compact' is your ideal product, this is so much better than the rtypical mailboxes available in terms of ease of use, security & quality, its almost a must for every home.

And finally if you want ulitmate ease of use, then speciify your ParcelPod with our high quality three wheel combination lock and never have to worry about where you left the key.

ParcelPod FAQ

How secure is Parcel Pod?

What is the largest parcel that Parcel Pod can accept?

How is Parcelpod secured to buildings?

Can Parcelpod be secured to a floor?

What are the benefits of the top opening Parcel Pod?

What are the benefits of the front opening Parcel Pod?

How do I determine the key number of my Parcel Pod?

How does the "anti-delve" feature actually work?
this feature is part of the patent pending chute assembly and can be explained with reference to the operation diagram on the Parcel Pod product page. When a parcel is placed into the Parcelpod and the lid is closed the item is transfered to the secure chamber below, the clever design of the chute then isolates your parcel, preventing it from being removed from the top.

What makes it different from other products?
The Parcelpod was designed not just for looks and practicality, but with the emphasis on security for your mail. It is made from 1.6mm Zintec steel, not the thin sheet aluminium of some inferior products. This is a heavy product (32kg for the Deluxe) and when fixed to the property will mean it is a highly secure product. The Parcelpod is engineered to be very secure yet very simple to use.

How Secure is the Parcelpod?
The locks are seven lever 'Safe' locks offereing very high security, further enhanced by the lockbar system ( this lock bar system eliminates any forces applied to the lock in forced attack)
All areas have been minimized for forced entry, so any attempt at breaking in will be extremly difficult.
How Many Parcels will it hold?
This depends on the type of products your are ordering. The cubic capacity of the Deluxe Parcelpod is and will hold numerous parcels/padded envelopes and mail. It will ensure that anything you are currently not being able to get through your letterbox should get comfortably fit in the Parcelpod. We have found that 90% of packages fit in the Deluxe.

What Parcelpod is best suited to my needs?
We ask you to assess what your current needs are. If you tend to order a lot of CDs/DVDs, small boxes or packages that tend to be delivered in the padded envelopes, the Compact Parcelpod should be adequate for most of your needs. On the other hand, if you are an avid internet shopper and would like Parcelpod to allow you the freedom of doing more, then the Deluxe will cover your needs, from the padded envelopes, standard mail right through to the packages and boxed parcels!

How is it fitted?
Both sizes of Parcelpod come with full fitting instructions and the necessary fixings to do so. We recommend for maximum security that Parcelpods are bolted (using the bolts fixings supplied) to the wall. Despite being weighty for someone to lift, bolting them to the property makes for a very secure device. Someone with basic DIY skills should be able to fit this in a matter of minutes.

Do I have a choice of Colours?
Yes, we currently manufacture Parcelpods in black or red as standard as we find these are the most popular colours and fit in with most property décor. However, should we have a number of requests for a particular colour we are of course happy to consider it!

Can I take my Parcelpod with me when I move house?
Yes, it can easily be unbolted (assuming you fitted it to the property) and be taken with you when you moved house. I think you will find the new owners would be very pleased if you left it as we are increasingly finding word of mouth recommendations from people who have seen our products. If you do decide to treat yourself to a new one, or recommend a friend, we will be happy to offer you Marks & Spencer vouchers of £20 for every recommendation resulting in an order. What luggage locks should I use when travelling to or from the USA?

We recommend using the new TSA (Transport Security Administration) accepted Travel Sentry™ locks which we will be available from us as from 1st January 2005. If you do use a regular lock and the TSA needs to inspect your luggage when you're not around, they have the right to cut the lock off your bag.

The Travel Sentry™ Certified locks have a special identification mark (diamond logo) and code which are recognized and accepted by the TSA. When, the TSA staff at all US commercial airports see this mark, they use the code and secured tools to open the lock and re-lock it after inspection.

For all information regarding the TSA's regulations in the US, please choose "TSA Locks" from the "quick select" drop down menu.

Can I use a different lock than the ones you provide with your products?

Yes. Where a lock is included with our products, using a different size or combination lock instead is perfectly acceptable the shackle diameter should not be less than that of the padlocks provided with your product. With some of our products, you just need to ensure the shackle fits through the locking device and prevents the locking bead from pulling through.

What is eXomesh?

eXomesh is a revolutionary "interlocking security system" developed to be at the core of Pacsafe's line of travel security products. eXomesh combines lightweight and flexible high-tensile stainless steel mesh, cable and crimps, bullet-proof polycarbonate lock links and next generation nylon laminate technology to create a safety cell around your valuables.

eXomesh has been branded to endorse the unique security features and R&D at the heart of the Pacsafe products compared with competitor's equivalents. Please click on the eXomesh logo at the bottom of the screen for further information or visit www.exomesh.com.

Is Pacsafe packaging recyclable?

Packaging is an integral part of our products and the first point of contact with our brand for the consumer. It helps convey product information and aesthetically looks pleasing. Here at Pacsafe we have a clear line of responsibility for the environment to ensure where possible environmental policies and goals are being adopted. In 2004, we have modified our packaging and we are now using polypropylene that is 100% fully recyclable.

How can I take care of my Pacsafe products?

We recommend that all our products be spot cleaned with warm water and mild detergent, and air-dried in the shade.

PacSafe Information

PacSafe Information

Which PacSafe model do I need?

The PacSafe (secure backpack & bag protectors) are designed to fit almost every type of backpack, soft-sided wheeled luggage, and duffel bags. For maximum security, it is recommended that the correct PacSafe according to the following guidelines:

PacSafe Model Name Model # Fits Volume Approx. (LxHxW)

PacSafe 55 1147 1550 - 3400 cubic inches / 25 - 55 Litres
PacSafe 85 1305 3400 - 5200 cubic inches / 55 - 85 Litres
PacSafe 120 1420 4600 - 7200 cubic inches / 75 - 120 Litres
PacSafe 140 1590 6000 - 8500 cubic inches / 100 - 140 Litres

NOTE 1: The PacSafe model name is based on the maximum number of litres the model will fit to make it easier to remember volume and sizing.

NOTE 2: If the customer intends to attach gear to the outside of a pack (e.g. sleeping bag, sleeping mat, tent, etc.), then add approximately 1000 cubic inches / 16 Litres per item to the total bag / pack volume.

To calculate volume, please multiply the length, by the height by the width.

How do you fit the PacSafe to a backpack so that you can still wear the backpack?

The PacSafe secure backpack and bag protector is designed so that a Backpack can still be worn with the PacSafe secured. When the PacSafe is attached, you will notice a piece of small plastic tubing located on the PacSafe mesh near the location of the waist harness on either side. The waist harness simply passes between the mesh where the tubing is located and the thicker draw wire before it is cinched tight.

If you want the PacSafe mesh to remain tight, it may be necessary to undo the webbing attaching the shoulder straps and feed it through the PacSafe netting. Alternatively, you can simply loosen the PacSafe net (by going down a few beads on the draw wire) until the pack sits comfortably on your back.

What do the airlines think?

In most countries, it is perfectly acceptable to lock you gear up with your Pacsafe before checking in. If in doubt, ask the staff at the check-in counter. If travelling to/from/within the United States, we recommend that you leave the PacSafe off your luggage during air transit (or at least wait until it has been inspected and permission has been given to lock your luggage).

It should be noted that the PacSafe was originally designed as a destination product for use in accommodation, public transport, left luggage areas, trailheads, etc.

Does the wire get caught while in airport transit?

Loose lengths of webbing, straps and handles are what get caught between moving conveyor belts and conveyor drums. When a Pacsafe is correctly fitted to the correct size pack/luggage, and the draw wire is wrapped in a stowed position (fed and wrapped around itself), there are no loose pieces that can get caught by the conveyors. It's important that the Pacsafe model is fitted tightly around the bag or pack it is designed for. The Pacsafe was demonstrated to baggage handling supervisors at LAX (and other airports) with no objections raised. In fact, it was noted that the Pacsafe would reduce the potential for airport transit pilfering and luggage damage.

Note: If the PacSafe is not tight on your luggage it may get caught on other baggage - To ensure that this does not happen request a plastic bag from the airline check in counter when checking your luggage.

Is the PacSafe difficult to get back in its storage bag?

Read the easy to follow instructions and you will be surprised at how easy it is to pack in the storage bag.

How long does it take to put a PacSafe on your pack?

Once you know how easy it is, you will have it locked and secure in a couple of minutes.
